At Lear Associates, we respect history and favour traditional design solutions which fit in and exhibit a sense of natural harmony through scale and use of local materials. Our goal is often the art of un-design – creating places which appear to have always been there. Our design work ranges from large parks and arboreta to small domestic gardens and street schemes. Some of our landscape schemes are ambitious and large scale ‘land-art’ – including the biggest permanent hedge maze in the world.
We have more than 30 years experience in conducting plant surveys in historic parks and gardens. Our knowledge of trees and shrubs in cultivation not only provides the foundation for conservation and restoration works, but also informs our new planting schemes.
We have undertaken work for The National Trust, English Heritage, Heritage Lottery Fund, Corporation of London, Essex County Council, Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Forestery Commission, Forest Service of Northern Ireland, University of Bristol, The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment, Dutchy of Cornwall, St Modwen Properties PLC, ZeroC and many private clients.
